Sustainable Engineering

Formosa Fountains cares about the long term impact of the water features that we engineer, and has been a corporate member of the US Green Building Council since October of 2008.

Energy efficiency became a priority early on while Formosa was still Fountain Tech. The original concerns were about power consumption and the need to reduce the operating costs of our water features. We achieved this through precise design engineering, which means that we never over-engineer a feature. Instead of using one large pump to run the entire fountain, we specify multiple pumps all running at their peak efficiency for each individual effect in a feature.

In response to demands for energy conservation for our future’s sake, we are proud to say that we have been doing this all along. Our dedication to the environment is an important part of our business.

Joining the USGBC is only the first step in our public stand for our environment. We pay for all LEED certification materials and testing fees for our staff of architects and engineers to encourage them to learn more about how to engineer higher efficiency water features. Formosa is always looking for ways to encourage a stronger care for our environment.

The LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.
